On the morning of September 29, the "Hundred Lecture Hall" hosted by the Beijing Institute of Technology and hosted by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and the Science and Technology Association of the University was held in the lecture hall of the Comprehensive Teaching Building of the Liangxiang Campus。Zhao Dongyuan, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Fudan University, was invited to give an academic report on "Seeing the World through Holes - the endless scientific Frontier of functional mesoporous materials"。The report was chaired by Professor Zhang Jiatao, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and more than 300 students and teachers from the school's Science and Technology Association and other schools attended the lecture。

Academician Dongyuan Zhao introduced the recent research progress in the controlled synthesis of multilevel structural functional mesoporous materials by orientation assembly through single-micellar interface assembly,And the recent application of functional mesoporous materials in catalyst support, electrode materials, thermal insulation materials, dielectric materials and other fields,Shared deep thoughts on the spirit of science,And encourage the teachers and students present,Do not aim too high in scientific research,Keep your feet on the ground。

During the questioning and exchange session, Academician Zhao Dongyuan gave detailed answers to the questions raised by the teachers and students, and encouraged the students to maintain their enthusiasm for scientific exploration and constantly enrich their cognition in scientific research。


Introduction to the speaker:

Zhao Dongyuan was born in Shenyang in 1963。He was admitted to the Department of Chemistry of Jilin University in 1980 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1984 and his Master of Science degree in 1987。He was co-elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007。In 2010 he was co-elected as a member of the Academy of Sciences for the Third World (TWAS)。He is mainly engaged in the research of synthesis, structure and application of functional mesoporous materials in catalysis, battery, biology, water treatment and other energy fields。He has published nearly 900 SCI papers in important international journals and obtained 95 Chinese patents。Paper has been cited nearly 150,000 times (h=193)。Listed as one of the 100 chemists with the highest citation rate in the past decade by ISI Web of Science (ranking 65), and selected as highly cited scientists in the fields of chemistry and materials in the world from 2011 to 2023;It is also listed as the most internationally influential Chinese scientist。National Natural Science First Prize (2020);Second Prize of National Natural Science (2004);International Mesostructural Materials Association IMMA Achievement Award (2008);Ho Liang Ho Li Science Progress Award (2009);TWAS-Lenovo Science Award, Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries (2016);China Molecular Sieve Achievement Award (2017);Chinese Chemical Society - Chemical Contribution Award (2018);International Colloidal Interface Science Darsh Wasan Award (2018);Nano Research Award (2020);ACS Nano Award (2021);Shanghai Science and Technology Hero (2023);Chan Kah Kee Science Award (2024);National Model of Teaching and Educating (2024)。He was President of the International Mesoscopic Structural Materials Association (IMMA),Editor in Chief, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Royal Society of Chemistry,He is currently the Executive Editor of ACS Central Science,Associate editor, National Science Review。
